World Card Making Day was a blur. Fall is crazy enough, 2 or 3 events every weekend, and then there was #WCMD! My girls were also running circles around themselves, so we cropped Friday instead.  They worked on past Paper Pumpkin kits.
And me? I cleaned my space a little, got sucked into the pinterest hole, and drank some wine! Oh! And made a card! Just one.
But it was a good one! Stampin' Up! had 24 hour coverage of WCMD on the demonstrators only Facebook page. Every hour they went live! They gave the demos  heads up on which sets they would be using. (Lots of demos had a day retreat or workshops. And I just happened to have one of them!
Rarely do I buy special kits or tins.  But since I am starting to build my business, I need to use all the company has to offer. I have had it since April! I am sorry I didn't  open it earlier.

It comes in this beautiful tin. It is covered with delicate vines that match the Bird Ballad Stamp set. I want to say it is Calypso Coral and Crumb Cake.
And the cards are Very Vanilla and laser cut into the most delicate daily design. Donxt you love the scallop on the flap? There are 12 cards and envelopes. Finish this kit and you have a very impressive gift. Or make them to send individually.
It was a quick card (once the decision was made) to finish up. I cut the center circle out and put it aside for later use. I found the vignette I wanted on the DSP and fussy cut it out. I used Petal Pink cardstock to back it, cutting it 4 ⅛" x 5 ⅜".  And then adhered The Birds in the center circle.
Simple and  beautiful!  My Aunt loved it when I visited her in the hospital Saturday.  (Instead of holding a workshop)
I am elated that I loved this so much, which will encourage me to purchase more kits in the future. And $18 for 12 beautiful cards/envelopes fit my budget. Go to my website to order yours, using the October hostess code if under $150.  HBG7NUWB.
I am Dreamin' of the beautiful things I can make with this....

What is DSP?

So often, when I was a new demonstrator, I would hear people talk about DSP. I am one who didn't ask silly questions! Smile and nod! And then someone said something about "Broadway Bound DSP"! Aha!  Designer Series Paper!  I spent a lot of time lost that first year! But the fear that I would not say the right thing about SU products stopped me from advancing. We call a tape runner "snail", foam pop dots are "dimensionals"!  I can hold my own making a layout as good as anyone!
So I have decided to relax and share some of these secret words from Stampin' Up! While sharing my creations and my family life. I have set some goals for my business and I know I can only reach those goals with your help.
And your help right now looks like this:

  • Share my blog with your friends
  • Leave me a message, ask me a question, share some love
  • Take part in my challenges when I get them started
  • And if you don't have a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, and you are in the United States, I would love to be yours
So, there you have it.  My 1st change comes tomorrow with my Tuesday's  Toolbox post. I hope that to be a weekly event. No promises tonight!
So I started talking about DSP for a reason. From Sept 4 - 30, DSP is on sale. And who doesn't love a sale? So, all month, when you buy 3 packets of DSP  you get one free! No limits !!
And I will add a bonus for all who order at least one set of papers...a card kit sent completely  free! Just use the Hostess code below when ordering.  It is that easy!

Dreamers, I'm  Dreamin' of great beginnings...you keep Dreamin' too!

CAUTION: Changes Ahead!

That is right! Hold on to your hat! There are so many changes coming to Stampin' Up! this weekend!  Some will make you happy and some not so much...at first!
  • We are no longer going to carry the Big Shot or other Sizzix products in our catalog.  They still have some so if you want one, order quick! We don't know the entire reason behind it, but I know we have really struggled since November releases to get them delivered to us in a timely fashion. I don't know if we just ordered too few or if it was a delivery issue? They have contracted with another company for our die cuts, so hopefully things won't go on the backordered list so quickly!
  • We are changing the trimmer. The concept of the trimmer is fabulous, I love mine! But the blades didn't last for very long.  I have ordered refills. So again, order quickly cause they will sell out fast!
  • NEW CATALOG! Our catalog will be shown to us here in the states tomorrow! I am in San Antonio already waiting for #OnStage2019! We will get our copy of the catalog and get to make great some great make-takes tomorrow! I will post them on my facebook page! Be sure to drop by there and look at them!
  • Catalog goes live June 4th. If you would like me to send you a new catalog, just purchase $25 of product on my online store, and I will get one sent!
  • Also, I am having a Paper Pumpkin Party on Tuesday, April 30. I have made 3 alternative cards for the kit. If you are a subscriber, bring your kit and play, Free! If you want to find out about Paper Pumpkin, $10 will let you make the 3 cards. Sign up on my Facebook page!
Well, I need to get around to do some shopping and sight seeing. I am dreamin' of a new purse today! Hope you keep Dreamin' too!

Evelyn's Birthday Invite

Evelyn is my only granddaughter.  She is a both a delight and a handful! Sometimes at the same time. Her birthday is coming up & she wants a party! At Chuckie Cheese! No, at McDonald's! No, at the bowling alley! That one became her final choice. "And Granma, we must invite my whole class!"
And that brought me to creating an invitation.  You can see the one she handed out to her class on the Dreamer!s Klub Facebook page. I promised the girls I would make one using Stampin' Up! Products. So here it is. An easy and sweet card that would lend itself to multiple uses.
I have used one of the first stamp sets I purchased when I joined last year, Pocketful of Sunshine (143719). I stamped the pocket unto Soft Seafoam cardstock.

Next step was to cut it out with the die from the  Pocket Framelets (143750).  It comes with not only the pocket, but also with 7 other dies! This close up picture shows that in addition to cutting out, it embossed a score line to fold over to make a realistic  look and a useable pocket.

Then I added Tear & Tape (138995) to the outside of those flaps, and folded them over with the paper backing still in place.  It made a mess when I removed it too soon! I chose the Tear Tape because I needed a strong tape to keep it from pulling off.
Now I removed the backing and centered it on the bottom of a 4x5 1/4 mat cut from the dotted DSP from Twinkle Twinkle Collection (146284).  On the pocket I stamped the flowered cake from Hand Delivered (146808) which is a hostess only set. I die cut a Mossy Meadow cake stand using Candles & Confetti Framelets (146319) .  With the card front finished,  I centered it onto a card base of Soft Sea foam cardstock.

I love how soft it looks! I typed the information about the party and cut it to
2 3/8 x 3 1/2. It slips perfectly into the pocket! The really cool part is that a gift card will also slip into the pocket. So it easily could be changed to any occasion that you needed a quick gift idea.
I hope you enjoyed my picture tutorial.  Please share with your friends
I'm Dreamin' of my next creation....you keep Dreamin' too!

Hello Dreamer's! It is a beautiful day in Oklahoma. Much unlike Thursday when I loaded up my car and went to create with Patty. Rain, fog and cold can't keep me away from stamping! I have gifts to make for my grandchildren's teachers and support staff. Ethan has 4 teachers and Evelyn has 2. PLUS special ed teachers, para professionals, speech teacher, bus drivers and others that I love for their commitment to these kids.  I am tired thinking about it!

 Good thing I love  stamping!

I love that each teacher is great about sending thank you notes for gifts or when a parent helps out. Thank You notes are probably high on their lists of wants! So I set to cutting 50 3x6 card bases &  2 1/2 x2 1/2 squares of a cream cardstock. (I must admit that it wasn't Stampin' Up!  products. I have some Michael's paper I have to use!) And then I used Balmy Blue cut 2 5/8" squares.  Whew! It was time for a wonderful chicken Asian salad lunch break!

Lots of cutting and an amazing new stamp set!

My Stamparatus made quick work of the 2 stamps I used. The Balmy Blue was too light, but Pacific Point made the Thank You stamp coordinate wonderfully! This stamp came from the new Humming Along set.
Humming Along
Next I added the small butterfly from the Beauty Abounds stamp set using Gray Granite. Possibly my favorite color  from the  Neutrals Collection.  I stacked and glued together with my Multipurpose Liquid Glue. It was such a simple and easy. And I think it's beautiful.

Thanks for joining me. If you don't  have a Stampin' Up! Representative, I would love to become yours!

I am Dreamin' of a white Christmas....you keep Dreamin' too!

Remember the sound of the sprinkler from when you were a kid? Tk,tk,tk,tk ...
After gardening in the hot Oklahoma sun all morning, I turned the sprinkler on to settle the dirt.
And then I settled into the hammock.  This little memory brought a smile to my face.

Another great memory is summer harvest. Canning pickles and green beans with my Grandmother was hard work, but so rewarding.
That is why I love the Jars of Love stamp set. It comes with 3 sizes of mason jars, lids, sentiments, flowers, ribbons and even a fish!  So I am swap group and one of my stampy friends is a home health care nurse. So this month, instead of making 6 cards, we are each making one each and sending it to Miss Mary.
I know that the flowers are from a retired set, Flowering Fields.I first stamped my card on a piece of Whisper White. It comes with a stamp to fill in the water, but I ended up fill it in with my Aqua Brush. Next I stamped on the branches. On a separate piece of paper, I stamped the flowers and again, using ink, water-colored them in. Fussy cutting is my favorite thing to do, so of course the flower heads asked for it! Popped them up with Mini Dimensionals. I layered them and glued the from piece off center. A small bow and it is finished.
I am dreamin' of more creativity this weekend.....you keep dreamin' too!

I am the worst blogger in the history of bloggers!  Just saying. But this election has given me a reason to spend more time on my creativity. Life has been crazy to say the least. So I am jumping in with both feet. I am starting to teach some classes at a local place and then...who knows?
The first project I am working on will be with KaiserCraft's "Christmas Wishes". It is the softest of pastels. It warms me quite a bit. I think i will design about 6 cards for the first class.

I no longer have a wholesale account, so i have to rely on my lss for products, and those were limited. Guess i will have to dig into my stash of ribbons and flowers to embellish.
I guess i must be excited about beginning, because it is 2:36 a.m. and I am still up dreaming of the future.  Nite all......keep dreamin'.

Cropping with Patty

Well I have one thing I have learned of late...creativity comes slowly with stress!  Life changes have made things crazy...closing the store, loss of a brother that I loved dearly, my daughter and her 2 kids moving in, her moving into my studio space,  it is overwhelming.
I tried getting a group going at a local antique mall, she has a great space for crops and classes. But having lost so many of my faithful croppers, even that has not turned out well.  So I am in a slump. Or was, that is.  I have been getting out of my house and going to my good friend Patty's house. She owns Keystone German Shepherds in Mannford. It is so fun to see and hear the latest litter of puppies yapping for their momma!
So  I started a mini canvas before Christmas, thinking I would practice my collaging and playing with some liquid water colors.  Not really impressed with the outcome!  But the nice thing is I can just continue to add more over it!  But the problem with being at someone else's house is that my supplies were at my house.  I dug in my roller bag....a page kit from convention, some travel paper, bling, Christmas ribbon....aha, here it is!
A mini paper pack G45's Curiosity Shoppe! Perfect!  I think I have had this in my bag for several years, it must be time to use it. This is what I came up with...

I started with a painted 5x7 artist canvas. I wanted to have a dark edge (like a frame) so i cut out part of the paper and pieced it on the edges.  I glued the blueish pattern paper for the background, distressing it with ink and a small stencil work of white. Lots of fussy cutting and distressing!  That  is what I love...a lot!
I only attached the bottom halves when I glued the pig, postcard and framed pieces down. That leaves the top open to slip a picture in!   I love the Maya Road Dress Form Clip and the few words from Tim Holtz rub-ons. Here are some closeups of the detail.
Thank you for dropping by and staying awhile.  I hope that my craft mojo will be fed by blogging.
I can't wait to show you what all I did for Evelyn's Birthday decorations and for the Blue and Gold Banquet.  I am already dreaming of the decorations I am working on for Easter...

You keep Dreamin' too.

Ghoulish Happenings!

I have to tell you how much I love G45's Eerie Tales. I picked the paper up on a Monday and by the afternoon, I have started fussy cutting. It just kinda spoke to me! This paper is so amazing.
I used a 12x12 3-D canvas that I purchased at WalMart. Then I just cut and cut and cut.  And cut. I think it turned out great.

I'm gonna try this again!

Oh! How I have missed blogging!  I remember the quiet days in Bolingbrook....take a walk with the dog, create something in my studio, blog about it.  (deep sigh)  Those were the days!
Now I get up, check email, pay bills, feed the dog (he's getting fat from lack of walks), shower, rush to store, rearrange product, help customers, visit with my new "neighbors", order products, make a display, price and put orders away........WAIT!!!

WHERE IS MY CREATING TIME!!!!!

My husband will tell you that there is nothing worse to live with than an over scheduled artist!  He is so right.  It has been 2 years since we moved back to Oklahoma and I still don't have my studio space set up. Boxes and other stuff all over it.  That is on my spring to-do list...I'll keep you informed.

Enough nagging for one post!
NOW FOR SOME EXCITING NEWS FROM THE STORE!
Our new products are starting to flow, no flood in. Last week, I had orders arrive on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday!  And yesterday I had 2 come in!!!  So just pictures today, and I will let you know what we are planning for you all in another post.  (Or you can check us out on our Facebook Page)

Here we go!!

WOW!!!

We have WOW Embossing Powder. I ordered the new colors and the "best sellers".  Drop by next week to do a make-take using the Melt It Powder.

 Copic Markers!

!
What can I say?  It's Copic!  We got an initial order of 36 markers and their refills.  Watch for classes and a special ordering event (with savings!) coming in May.  Eugene was very well behaved and got to pose with teacher, Lori at the Collin's Group Spring Trade Show in Framingham, MA last month.  Everyone loves Eugene!

My Favorite Things (MFT)

I got to be some of the first to see the new Hybrid Ink from MFT.  The colors are amazing and these pigment based inks dry like dye inks and are permanent on paper surfaces. They are acid-free, archival, and fade resistant. Inks can be heat set on glass, fabric, wood, plastic, metal, and clay. As these inks are fast drying and  waterproof, they cannot be embossed with embossing powder.(that is the description from their page....but I will tell you that they stamp crisp and clear.  And using the Copics on them are amazing!    We also grabbed the stamp and die featured above.  I have Super Hero Paper that it will match wonderfully!

There's more that came in...Girlfriend stamps from Art Impression, Tim Holtz Mini Stamp pads, Beginner Quilling Kits, some quilling kits, and some basics.

Come to the store and see how much we have grown!  I am Dreamin' of creating....you keep Dreamin' too.

New Year brings hope of Change

Happy New Year Dreamers!  I hope you have taken some time to reflect on 2013, because our past can shape our future.  Not all that happened in 2013 was memorable..rather mundane.  Dishes, carpool, work, laundry are not something we want to remember.  But they are a large part of our life.
So, do you document those times?  I do quite often in my Book of Me. I have pictures of the kids helping me cook or do laundry. (laundry help is rare at my house, so there are indeed few photos)
I have joined a Project 365 Challenge group where we are going to strive to take a picture every day for the new year.  Doesn't sound too hard, does it?  Where the challenge comes from "the list" that Stephanie is putting out there for us.  Today's word is Fresh....working on that one.  I have sheets in the wash.  They are always "fresh" when right out of the dryer.
Do any of you make New Year Resolutions?  I never have, until this year.  I need to challenge myself to scrapbook!  So my "crafting" resolutions are:

  1. Make a layout every week
  2. Organize my scrap room
  3. Host 3 retreats
So between the Photo Challenge and my resolutions...I need to get off the computer! With perseverance I know that I will be able to reach my goals.

I'm Dreamin' of a fabulous, creative 2014...you keep Dreamin' too.

Snow makes the best decorations!

I have never liked snow. 1--it's cold! 2--it's wet & cold! 3--still cold!  Growing up in the panhandle of Texas, we had our fair share of snow. Mom would bundle us up and throw us out the door. The boys would dig tunnels and make forts for their day-long snow ball fights. I would walk around a bit and be ready to go in. But mom wouldn't let me...I needed to play with the brothers. So I remember sitting on the porch, crying. Making my own icicles--which made me colder!
Today, I am still cold all the time. Even in summer!  But I have fallen in love with snow...but only looking at it through my double-paned windows. I donned my heavy clothes and journeyed out to take a few pictures of the snow. (my scrap tools are mostly at the store, so no creating over this long weekend)

We have 4 artificial trees on our porch, 2 large one and 2 on either side of the door. The snow on the branches is a great touch. I couldn't have done it better.  And here at The Funk's Botanical Garden we have constant updates on the pool.  So who could resist a picture of the snow drifts on the edge of the pool and the ladder? (The water is now a nice thin coat of ice...no we never long enough freezes  ice skate!)
Hope you enjoyed the winter wonderland.
But for me, I'm Dream' of warm weather and sunshine...you keep Dreamin' too.

Yesterday I got a chance to create!  Working at The Paper Crafts Store gives me a bunch of great products to choose from!!  I have been dying to play with the large Pop Bottle Caps from Maya Road.  I don't have the jumbo ones, but the large one.
I have been making a lot Christmas cards with the new Kaiser Craft  "St. Nicolas" collection.  Of course, there are always scraps.  So I started putting different pieces together....and I like it!

A 3" punch makes it easy to cut a background. I cut this out of the leftover corner of  "Santa Clause". It goes without saying that everything  I add, has a touch of inking to  it!  I usually prefer to use Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

I love to fussy cut with my new Elizabeth's Crafts Fine Point scissors.  I have arthritis in my right thumb, and the ease of these scissors allows me to craft longer. So I cut out the bells in the corner, leaving a couple of leaves for texture. I outlined the edge of the bells with my Jelly Roll Stardust Pen. It adds a light shimmer. Some foam dots for more dimension holds it into the bottle cap. I didn't like the fact that the paper base "gapped" around the edges.  So I added a thick band of gold Stickles around the edge. I stamped on black card stock some sentiment and embossed it with white. Some bling to make the berries more prominent, satisfied my desire for more sparkles!
My Crop-a-Dile punched a whole with ease through the top edge of the pop cap. I used a string of embroidery floss ( with a bead tied to the inside) to hang it up. I love the way it turned out...and with the Pop Caps selling for only 75 cents, it makes an amazingly affordable gift. I need to make one for my mailman, hairdresser, Shirley next door, our land lady....this list goes on!

So, with the weather threatening to shut us in...grab your supplies and create something special for your gift list.
I'm Dreamin' of two days of crafting...you keep Dreamin' too..

Tell Santa what you want...

A little  more Genevieve and then I'll move on!

Genni was cute...but she needed more.  She needed a Christmas list!  So I grabbed my faithful roll of kraft paper and set about making one.  I tore the edges and inked them to make it look older.
Then off to my Pazzles machine to cut out words. I love the freedom of choosing any font on my computer to be able create a variety of looks. And I can "weld" them together or add an outline so easily!  Did I say I love it?  Because I really do.
Lots of scraps later, I had the desires of Genevieve's heart written and glued to the list. I think it turned out cute.  Now to finish the window!

So Genevieve & I are Dreamin' of crafty gifts...you keep Dreamin' too.

Getting ready for Christmas

I know, it isn't even Thanksgiving yet. I am usually ready for Christmas around the 4th of July!  But in my defense, it takes a while to create store displays and classes...and cards...and ornaments... I have been in a small creative block. I can blame it on running the store and having to do all the non-creative things there. But the reality is probably stemming from the fact that my scrap room is still not in shape.  I have nowhere to escape and be alone with my favorite tools and papers.  I have started again, and have high hopes for a space to play!
I do have something to share today.
I said I was creating store displays. Genevieve has once again been transformed for the season.  For those who don't know, Genevieve is the store's wire mannequin. She has no real purpose but to bring a smile.  I started with her skirt. It was going to be to be made of kraft  paper, with accents of paper on her ruffles. But then I went for wide ribbon at the Dollar Store and saw the double-sided wrapping paper! I cut the paper into a strip, fan folded it, and stapled the two layers to a "waist band" made of kraft paper. Then I stapled it around her waist and with my scor-tape, tape the 2 edges together.  I covered the waist band with a strip of  mesh and then made a simple bow to bring it all together.
But now, what to do with the bodice? It needs to be paper, we are a paper crafts store. I tried to "sew" a top from the paper, but it was TOO MUCH!!  So simple it is. So I strung some lights around the top.  Done!  Well, not quite.  It was too simple. Okay, then let's add some decorations.  The poinsettias were fussy cut from our new Kaiser Craft St. Nicolas line.  The whole page is full of beautiful flowers.  Punch a hole in the middle and TaDa!  A flower bodice.  Some of the flowers, I double cut to give dimension.

Tomorrow I will show you how she looks in the window.  I had to buy some snow and add some other paper crafted items.  It still isn't finished...but it's not Christmas yet!

Until then, I'm Dreamin' of a White Christmas....you keep Dreamin' too.

Just an update on Genevieve

In Oklahoma, this is tax free weekend...a sign that school is about to begin.  I remember when I was a kid that "back to school" seemed like a death sentence!  No more bike riding, the fish in the pond would have to wait till weekends as would camping at Lake Keystone.  Summer was such a magical time when you lived in a town that time forgot.
So because of tax free weekend, all my customers were out spending their money on shoes, jeans and the perfect shirt for the first day of school.  And I was a little bored!  (until crop time, and we had a great time) I took time to continue getting Genevieve ready for retreat.  She is gorgeous!

She inspired me to finish the window in pink style, with a "sheet" of pink lace, a pink flower bucket filled with pink & white daisies, and (though it doesn't show well in the picture) spirals of pink curling ribbon!  It is dreamy.  All it lacks is the sign about the retreat, that will not be back from the printer till Tuesday.  Overall, I am very pleased.  Hopefully it will draw attention to the store.

Time to get around and go to the store. Saturday's at the store are dedicated to me - - I am going to work on some of my own pictures.  It seems that I don't have time to create on my own, now that I am back at the store.  I have to get back into blog hops and challenges.  I miss my blog world friends.
But until then, I'll keep Dreamin' about the retreat and 20 more people registering!

You keep Dreamin' too.
